Sponsors Sought For Economic Development Summit

Mark your calendar and save the date for the 2008 Hollywood Economic Development Summit.  This year’s popular event will take place on Thursday, June 19th, from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Because of sell-outs the past two years, the summit will be moved to the CineramaDome this year to ensure that everyone who wants to attend can be accommodated.  The theme for 2008 is “Taking Hollywood to the Next Level” and will feature the very latest information on what is happening in Hollywood.  A special focus of the conference will be in-fill development, using Selma Avenue as a case study on what is happening in the film capital.  A Hollywood Visionary Award will be presented to James M. Nederlander, Sr., who is the owner of the Pantages Theatre and adjoining properties.  Sponsors are still being sought for the summit and will be taken through May 15th.  For a list of the sponsorship levels that are available and the associated benefits, click here.

Treasured “Oasis” Off Vine Restaurant Damaged in Fire

A fire determined to have been sparked by faulty wiring caused over $400,000 in damage to Hollywood’s popular Off Vine Restaurant over the past weekend.  The upstairs dining room of the turn-of-the-century two-story bungalow was gutted, although Los Angeles firefighters were able to save many valuables from the flames.  An Off Vine spokesman stated, “No one was seated in the upstairs dining room that night, and we evacuated all our staff and guests safely.”  Two firefighters who were reported injured fighting the blaze were treated at local hospitals and released.  Off Vine co-owner Richard Falzone stated, “To all our Chamber friends, thank you for your support and kind words.  Our home base/office is on the front porch of the restaurant during the process of our re-model - table P5 to be exact!  I invite any and all of you to stop by.” Known for its beautiful garden patio and quaint setting, Off Vine is known as an “oasis in the heart of Hollywood”, stated one regular patron.  As Hollywood Chamber members for nearly 20 years, Off Vine owners are also well known for their “good corporate citizenship” and overall generosity to the community.  Fellow Chamber members are encouraged to support Off Vine upon its re-opening.  For updates please contact bj@hollywoodchamber.net
