Chamber Delegation Visits Washington to Lobby on Hollywood Issues

A delegation of fifteen representatives from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce visited Capitol Hill last week to advocate issues of importance to Hollywood.   Chamber representatives met with Senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein as well as with Congress Members Xavier Becerra (CA-31), Diane Watson (CA-33), Howard Berman (CA-28), Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34), Brad Sherman (CA-27), Henry Waxman (CA-30), and Maxine Waters (CA-35).  New Chamber Chair and leader of the Washington delegation, Mark Panatier of the A.F. Gilmore Company remarked, “The Chamber’s annual trip to Washington, D.C. was very successful.  Our delegation was able to directly brief Members of Congress on issues of concern not only to Hollywood businesses but to the entire Hollywood community.”

Among the issues discussed by the Chamber delegation, during last week’s trip included: the proposed Hollywood Freeway Central Park, transportation funding for Los Angeles, health care funding and reforms, homelessness initiatives, anti-piracy legislation, tourism, and funding for needed repairs to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Hollywood Chamber will also be sending a delegation to Sacramento May 20-21st to brief California State legislators on relevant Hollywood issues.  If you are interested in learning how you can participate in the upcoming trip to Sacramento, please contact the Chamber’s Vice President of Public Policy, Nicole Shahenian at 323-468-1373 or via e-mail at Nicole@hollywoodchamber.net.
