Chamber Delegation Visits
Washington to Lobby on Hollywood Issues

A delegation of fifteen
representatives from the Hollywood Chamber of
Commerce visited Capitol Hill last week to
advocate issues of importance to Hollywood.
Chamber representatives met with Senators
Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein as well as
with Congress Members Xavier Becerra (CA-31),
Diane Watson (CA-33), Howard Berman (CA-28),
Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34), Brad Sherman
(CA-27), Henry Waxman (CA-30), and Maxine Waters
(CA-35). New Chamber Chair and leader of the
Washington delegation, Mark Panatier of the A.F.
Gilmore Company remarked, “The Chamber’s annual
trip to Washington, D.C. was very successful.
Our delegation was able to directly brief
Members of Congress on issues of concern not
only to Hollywood businesses but to the entire
Hollywood community.”
Among the issues discussed
by the Chamber delegation, during last week’s
trip included: the proposed Hollywood Freeway
Central Park, transportation funding for Los
Angeles, health care funding and reforms,
homelessness initiatives, anti-piracy
legislation, tourism, and funding for needed
repairs to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The Hollywood Chamber will
also be sending a delegation to Sacramento May
20-21st to brief California State legislators on
relevant Hollywood issues. If you are

Members to Mix at EI
School of Make Up
The
Chamber’s April networking mixer will be held on
Wednesday April 30th at EI School of
Professional Makeup. Located at 1622 N. Highland
Avenue, at the corner of Hawthorn, EI School of
Professional Makeup will provide a rare,
insiders look at the fascinating world of
theatrical and special effects makeup. The
Mixer will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
on Wednesday April 30th. Admission is $10 for

Michael Eisner to Receive
Star on Friday
Entertainment industry
giant Michael Eisner will receive his star on
the Hollywood Walk of Fame this Friday at 11:30
a.m. The ceremony will be held adjacent to the
El Capitan Theatre. For four decades, Eisner
has been one of the leaders in the entertainment
industry. He began his career at ABC. From
there, he went on to be president of Paramount
Pictures from 1976 to 1984, when he moved to the
Walt Disney Company, where he was Chairman and
Chief Executive Officer for the next 21 years.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has been the
administrator of the Walk of Fame since its
creation.

LAPD Announces Senior Lead
Officer Summit
The Hollywood
Division of the LAPD has announced its
Hollywood Area Senior Lead Officer Summit,
which will take place on April 23, at 6 p.m., at
the Hollywood City Hall building, 6501 Fountain
Avenue. The purpose of the summit will be to
identify two or three important problems for the
community and LAPD to address. For further

Foundation Plans 15th
Annual WOD Fundraiser
The
Hollywood Chamber Community Foundation will be honoring Amy
Wakeland, Carolyn Dye, Hilary Royce and Laura Dodson at the
15th Annual Women of Distinction fundraiser which will be
held at The Globe at Universal on May 8, 2008. Michael
Taylor will be honored with the Golden Award and former Miss
America and actress Lee Meriwether will be honored with the
prestigious Mary Pickford Award. This is the
largest fundraiser of the year for the Hollywood
Chamber Community Foundation, which raised more
than $100,000 last year.
