Chamber Hosts Meetings
on Homelessness and Education
The Hollywood
Chamber hosted two meetings last week that mark
new initiatives in the community. At the first,
homeless feeding program representatives met at
the Chamber to discuss ways to outreach and end
homelessness in Hollywood. Interestingly
enough, it was the first time that the different
programs had ever met as a group and discussed
their efforts. The meeting was deemed very
worthwhile and a second meeting was set for
additional follow up.
Another meeting was
initiated last week by outgoing chair Jeff
Briggs with representatives of the numerous
colleges and trade schools that are located in
Hollywood. Briggs offered the education reps.
the Chamber’s resources to meet discuss common
issues and how the schools can work together to
promote Hollywood as an educational center.
Attendees were enthusiastic about working
together and another meeting will be set in the
near future.

Gubler Shares Chamber
Views with METRO on Subway Route
Chamber
President & CEO Leron Gubler testified last week
at a METRO hearing on their Long Range
Transportation Plan, and shared the Hollywood
Chamber’s views on the proposed “subway to the
sea” route. He noted the chamber was strongly
in support of the subway extension to the
Westside. While an eventual link all the way to
Santa Monica is the ultimate goal, the Chamber’s
view is that before the subway is built west of
the 405 Freeway, the link from the Hollywood &
Highland Metro Station through West Hollywood
and Beverly Hills to connect with the Wilshire
line should be a priority. Such a link would
allow people to more easily move between the
Westside and these popular business and
entertainment areas.
