Plans Announced to Finish the Pantages Theatre Building

Nearly 80 years after it was built, the landmark Pantages Theatre will undergo a “makeover”, when the development firm Clarett Group and the Nederlander organization finish the building as it was originally intended.  At a press conference held this week at City Hall, the ambitious project was announced that will place a 10-story art deco office tower above the front portion of the building (not over the actual theatre).  The original design by architect Marcus Priteca had called for the tower, but was shelved after the market crash of 1929.  The Clarett Group plans to follow the original design and to spend between $75 and $100-million on the project.  They anticipate that it will take two years to get through the entitlement and design process and another two years to build the tower.  It is anticipated that the Pantages Theatre will remain open during the construction period.

Chamber Seeks Premiere Investors

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is seeking businesses that wish to become premiere investors in the chamber in 2008.  Chamber President & CEO Leron Gubler said that any business investing at least $5,000 was eligible to sign up for the program.  He noted there are special benefits for sponsors, including a free pass to all chamber functions during the year, besides those which they may have sponsored.  Premiere investors also are guaranteed priority seating at chamber events and are recognized in the Chamber’s bimonthly newsletter and on the Chamber website.  For further information, call (323)469-8311.
