Members Invited
to Free Holiday Movie Screening

Sunday, December 9th, the Hollywood Chamber of
Commerce and the Hollywood Chamber Community Foundation will

other cast members will be present to discuss the movie
following the screening. The chamber is sponsoring the movie
in cooperation with American Cinematheque. A grant from Iron
Mountain Film & Storage also helped to make it possible.
Hollywood & Highland is also expected to tie-in that day
with special events for the local residents. The
American Cinematheque is located at 6712
Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, CA 90028, (323)461-2020.
Please note that it will be a "first come, first

Plans Announced to
Finish the Pantages Theatre Building

Nearly
80 years after it was built, the landmark Pantages Theatre
will undergo a “makeover”, when the development firm Clarett
Group and the Nederlander organization finish the building
as it was originally intended. At
a
press conference held this week at City Hall, the ambitious
project was announced that will place a 10-story art deco
office tower above the front portion of the building (not
over the actual theatre). The original design by architect
Marcus Priteca had called for the tower, but was shelved
after the market crash of 1929. The Clarett Group plans to
follow the original design and to spend between $75 and
$100-million on the project. They anticipate that it will
take two years to get through the entitlement and design
process and another two years to build the tower. It is
anticipated that the Pantages Theatre will remain open
during the construction period.
