On Monday the Hollywood Chamber of
Commerce arranged a reception for the Minister of Culture
and Francophonie from the Ivory Coast, Kouadio Komoe
Augustin. On his first visit to California the Minister
sought out the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce as one of only
two official visits, the other being with Governor
Schwarzenegger in Sacramento. Accompanied by a delegation
including the Ivory Coast Consul General and Consul staff,
as well as Chamber member and Ivory Coast native King Nat
from The Talking Drum “The African Voice”, the group was
received at Los Angeles City Hall by Chamber President Leron
Gubler, Council President Eric Garcetti and Councilman Tom
LaBonge. Prior to the morning’s City Council hearing the
group met for a small reception and exchanged gifts from Los
Angeles and the Ivory Coast. The Minister presented Leron
Gubler and Eric Garcetti each with a colorful cloak and
sandals worn by African chiefs. After being presented with
an official City proclamation and welcomed before the full
Council by Councilman LaBonge, they departed for Sacramento.

Hollywood Chamber of
Commerce Hosts State Enterprise Zone Seminar

Hollywood
became recognized as a State Enterprise Zone (SEZ) in
November 2006. Businesses that are located within the
geographical boundaries of the SEZ are entitled to increased
tax incentives to hire and do business in the zone. The
Hollywood Chamber of Commerce sees the importance of the SEZ
to the community and has taken an active role in promoting
its benefits. On Thursday a seminar was held at the Chamber
offices with about 30 people in attendance. Chamber and City
of Los Angeles staff spoke in great detail of the different
benefits of the zone. Capital Credits Consulting, LLC, who
sponsored the event, was on-hand to present its services
that help businesses to gain the greatest advantage from the
Enterprise Zone. The Chamber would like to extend a special
thanks to Capital Credits Consulting, LLC, the City of Los
Angeles, and Grub Restaurant/As You Like It Catering, for
the delicious breakfast. The Chamber will hold additional
seminars in the future.

Roger Moore “Bonded” to
the Hollywood Walk of Fame
Iconic
film legend Roger Moore, who portrayed James
Bond in many films over a span of 12 years, was
surrounded by numerous friends, family members,
and fans as they attended the unveiling of his
Walk of Fame Star at 7007
Hollywood Boulevard on Thursday. Walk of Fame
Chairman, Johnny Grant, made mention of the
perfect address for Moore’s star, 7007
in the year 2007. Grant went on
to proclaim it “Roger Moore Day in Hollywood”.
A grateful Moore stated, "I want to thank Johnny
Grant for granting me this honor….I have been
lucky to have been able to kiss many women
during my work - Elizabeth Taylor, Carol Baker
and Angie Dickinson. I also worked with Clint
Walker…and no I did not kiss him!” He added,
"Sadly, I had to retire from the Bond films. The
girls were getting younger, or I was just
getting too old." Family and friends enjoyed a
post-ceremony reception at the historic Magic
Castle.
