Two-and-a half
years of work culminated this past Tuesday when
the Los Angeles City Council gave final approval
to Boulevard 6200, a $400-million mixed-use
project that will transform the area surrounding
the Pantages Theatre. At a press conference
held on Wednesday, Ronnie Hackett and Frank
Stephan of the Clarett Group, James Nederlander,
Jr., and Council President Eric Garcetti toasted
the unprecedented level of community support for
the project, which will bring in 1,000 new
apartment units and 175,000-sq.ft. of retail
space, with 2,696 underground parking spaces.
Developers expect a groundbreaking around the
beginning of 2008, with two phases of
construction. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce
played an instrumental role in securing approval
of the key project. David Green, Senior VP/CFO
for Nederlander West Coast expressed the
appreciation of his firm to the Chamber Board of
Directors for its strong support of the project.
