The Clarett Project Advances to City Council

The Clarett Project, encompassing the north and south sides of Hollywood Blvd. just east of Vine St., sailed through the City’s Planning and Land Use Management Committee (P.L.U.M.) this week.  The committee members voted unanimously to advance the project to the City Council for approval.  Council President Eric Garcetti, in whose district the project sits, is supportive of the project, and his planning deputy, Alison Becker, was on hand to speak in favor of the project. There was no opposition at the hearing.  The developers hope to break ground in January 2008.

The East Hollywood Business Improvement District elected its officers at a meeting this week.  Jeff Zarrinnam, General Manager of the Ramada Hollywood Near Universal Studios, was elected as the first Chairman of the BID’s Board of Governors.  “Jeff was involved with the East Hollywood Committee, which predates the BID.  He was instrumental in the BID’s formation and we are pleased to have retained his leadership,” said Todd Lindgren, Chamber Sr. Vice President who serves as the BID’s Executive Director.  Other officers are David Ambroz, LA City College Foundation – Vice Chairman; Glenn Crabtree, Kaiser Permanente – Treasurer; Victor Israel, property owner – Secretary.  The BID is currently working on drafting a Request for Proposals (RFP), the first step in securing vendors to provide the cleaning/maintenance services within the district.
