Chamber Presents
Most Important Seminar for YOUR Business

Every Hollywood
business that wants to save money should plan to
attend what the Hollywood Chamber is billing as
the most important seminar
that it has
presented. Attendees will learn how they can
take advantage of the new Los Angeles Enterprise
Zone, which went into effect this past
December. The new state program offers
Hollywood businesses a chance to save literally
thousands of dollars, including employee hiring
tax credits, sales and use tax credits for the
purchase of equipment, an accelerated
depreciation deduction, a net interest
deduction, net operating loss carryover,
reductions in DWP electrical rates, etc.
The seminar will
be held at Paramount Pictures on next Friday,
March 23, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. There is a $15
admission charge, which includes a continental
breakfast. “This could be the best $15
your business
has ever spent,” said Chamber President & CEO
Leron Gubler. Helping
to sponsor the event are Paramount Pictures and
KBKG Inc. Reservations can be made by going to
the
Chamber Events at
www.hollywoodchamber.net, or emailing

Silsbee
Testifies in Support of JPI Project

The Chamber was
represented at a hearing this week in support of
JPI Development’s proposed Jefferson at
Hollywood project. Vice President of Public
Policy Rochelle Silsbee testified that the
development is an important addition to the
revitalization of Hollywood at a highly visible
entrance to the community. Located at the
corner of Highland Ave. and Yucca Street, the
project will feature 270 residential apartments,
about 8,500-sq.ft. of retail space, with 470
parking spaces to serve the development and an
additional 285 spaces provided for public
parking. The public parking spaces will fill an
important need at this location, since the
adjacent historic buildings fronting Hollywood
Blvd. do not have parking spaces of their own.

Chamber Meets With Assemblyman
Kevin DeLeon
Chamber
President & CEO Leron Gubler and V.P. of Public
Policy Rochelle Silsbee met this week with
newly-elected Assemblyman Kevin DeLeon. DeLeon
represents the 45th Assembly
District, formerly represented by Jackie
Goldberg. The purpose of the meeting was to
enlist the Assemblyman’s help on two important
Chamber projects: (1) the proposed Hollywood
Central Park, and (2) implementation of AB588.
The Chamber asked for his assistance in seeing
that a portion of the bonds approved at the last
election for California infrastructure projects
be designated to help with planning for the
park. AB588 was a Chamber-championed bill that
the Governor signed last year to create a
Hollywood statistical area. The Chamber asked
DeLeon if he would assist in getting the State
agencies involved to report the Hollywood
demographic data that is supposed to be
collected as a result of the bill.

Clarification on Paseo Plaza Hearing Results
Please
note that in last weeks E-news update, it stated
that Chamber-supported, Paseo Plaza--a proposed
mixed-use development at Santa Monica Boulevard
was presented before the Los Angeles City
Planning Commission. In this update it stated
that the proposal would return to the commission
for a follow-up hearing, however the proposal
was in fact, unanimously approved by the
commission thanks to great community support and
an excellent work by the developer in rising to
meet all of the community’s needs.
Congratulations Paseo Plaza!
