Chamber Presents
Seminar to Explain How Businesses Can Save $$$
The
Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is presenting a
special seminar for its members to learn how
they can take advantage of the new Los Angeles
Enterprise Zone, which went into effect this
past December. The new state program offers
Hollywood businesses a chance to save literally
thousands of dollars, including employee hiring
tax credits, sales and use tax credits for the
purchase of equipment, an accelerated
depreciation deduction, a net interest
deduction, net operating loss carryover,
reductions in DWP electrical rates, etc.
 The
seminar will be held at Paramount Pictures on
Friday, March 23, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. There
is a $15 admission charge, which includes a
continental breakfast. “This could be the best
$15 your business has ever spent,” said Chamber
President & CEO Leron Gubler. Helping to sponsor
the event are Paramount Pictures and KBKG
Inc. Reservations can be made by going to the
chamber website,
www.hollywoodchamber.net, or emailing
steven@hollywoodchamber.net. Reservations
are mandatory.
Mayor’s Staff Tours
Hollywood
Hollywood took
center stage this week, when 120 members of the
Mayor’s staff did a walking tour of the film
capital to view a success story in urban
revitalization. The staffers took the subway to
the Hollywood & Vine station, then walked west
to the El Capitan Theatre, where they were
hosted for breakfast. The Planning Dept. and CRA
provided guides to explain how Hollywood lends
itself to pedestrian activities. Robin Kramer,
the Mayor’s chief of staff, told those assembled
that it was an opportunity to see “the future
being made now.” City Planning Director Gail
Goldberg introduced her new Urban Design Studio
staff to explain what makes for a walkable
community. It was a chance for Hollywood to
shine and should help Hollywood whenever we deal
with the Mayor’s staff in the future.

very effective CRA Regional Administrator Helmi
Hisserich has been named by Mayor Antonio
Villaraigosa to be Deputy Mayor for Housing and

will miss Helmi’s leadership in Hollywood,” said

this is a great opportunity for her to share her
expertise with the rest of the city.” The
Chamber will be hosting a farewell reception in
April for her. Any business interested in
