Chamber Supports
Crobar Project
Chamber Vice
President of Public Policy Rochelle Silsbee
testified at a hearing last week in support of a
proposed nightclub and restaurant by Crobar
Worldwide, Inc., to be developed in the old Fox
Theatre. The building, located at 6505
Hollywood Blvd., has been boarded up for years
and contributes to the blight in that block.
The Chamber’s support was contingent on four
conditions: (1) that Crobar will not permit the
use of outside promoters in connection with the
entertainment provided; (2) that the restaurant
will be a bonafide restaurant, open to the
street and operating during daytime hours; (3)
that parking credits must be brand new and not
take parking away from an existing club or
restaurant; and (4) that the operators support a
night-time circulator if one is implemented by
the City.

East
Hollywood BID, Central Park on Council Agenda
The Los Angeles
City Council will be considering two Hollywood
Chamber items on its agenda next Tuesday,
January 9th. A public hearing will
be held for the proposed East Hollywood Business
Improvement District, a project the Chamber has
been championing for the past six years. The
district, primarily along Vermont Avenue north
of the 101 Freeway to Hollywood Blvd., would
assist the businesses in improving that area.
Ballots will be counted following the hearing to
determine if the district will be formed. The
City Council is also expected to act on a grant
of $100,000 proposed by the CRA to help pay for
a feasibility study of a proposed Freeway cap
parking to be built over a section of the
Hollywood Freeway where it is below grade.
