Chamber Testifies Before City Planning

Chamber Vice-President Rochelle Silsbee testified before City Planning in support of the proposed project by the Bond Companies at 5555 Hollywood Boulevard at Garfield for a mixed-use of residential and commercial space that will transform the now vacant parcel into something that will be a benefit to the community. Silsbee also testified that day on the conversion of 7060 Hollywood Boulevard that would include a ground floor equity waiver theatre. “We are pleased with the plans to retain a portion of the ground floor for an equity waiver theater,“ remarked Silsbee. “We are in danger of losing many of the theatres now in Hollywood, as they are being pushed out due to higher rents, so this will help to keep one more theatre here.”

Chairman Jeff Briggs Speaks in Favor of Major

Office Development and AMPAS Museum Land Acquisition: CRA Board Votes Unanimously in Favor

At a Board meeting of the Community Redevelopment Agency, Chairman Jeff Briggs urged the board to support CRA’s proposal to support a project that would create much-needed office space in Hollywood at 1601 North Vine Street.  The major office development would be the first of its kind in over 25 years in Hollywood.  The proposed office building is speculated to attract the interests of the entertainment industry as its primary occupants, who now report having to look for office space outside the borders of Hollywood. Jeff Briggs also spoke strongly in favor of the CRA’s plans to acquire the Goldenson property, now occupied by KFC, located at 1367 North Vine Street for the future site of the highly-anticipated Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (AMPAS) Motion Picture Museum. Both items were unanimously voted in favor by the CRA Board. After the great outcome, Briggs remarked, “The CRA has long been a terrific partner for every constituency in Hollywood, and continues to lead our community's economic resurgence.  Its work with various stakeholders on the AMPAS Museum on Vine has provided critical support for that exciting project; and its support for a new Class A office building in the Vine corridor--the first to be built in Hollywood from the ground-up in 25 years--is going to provide a much-needed kickstart for a new office boom in the area.  The Chamber is paying close attention to the need for a jobs-housing balance in Hollywood, and both developers and the CRA are stepping up to the plate.”
