Hollywood is the Place to be - Assessing the State of Hollywood's Re-emergence
Given Hollywood’s prominence, there is no place in Southern California better positioned to create a unique urban center. Speakers at the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Summit weighed-in on how Hollywood is re-emerging and developing a thriving “ecosystem” to support an attractive city lifestyle. Attendees heard experts explain what needs to be done to foster a creative and sustainable environment in Hollywood attractive to investors, employers and residents.The Hollywood Chamber’s top annual economic conference was held in June 2015 at the Arclight Theatre. The annual half-day event kicked off with exhibits, networking and continental breakfast followed by program.

Los Angeles City Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell of the 13th District welcomed guests to this annual summit.
Hamet Watt, Venture Partner of Upfront Ventures was the opening keynote speaker. He is a leader in L.A.’s entrepreneurial community.
The first panel discussion tackled “How Hollywood is doing in addressing quality of life issues? Moderated by Co-chair Li Wen, the panelists included Tori Kjer of Trust for Public Land, Kerry Morrison of Hollywood Property Owners Alliance, Derrick Moore of Avison Young, and Dixon Slingerland of Youth Policy Institute/Hollywood Promise Zone.
The second panel discussion addressed “What are the Economic Development issues and opportunities facing Hollywood and what must we do to be competitive?” Moderated by Co-chair Dwayne Gathers, panelists included Lina Chen of Nix Hydra Games, Michelle Kempner of BuzzFeed Motion Pictures, Michele Sizemore of Vince and Ellen Zaman of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
Closing keynote speaker was Victor Coleman, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Hudson Pacific Properties, a major developer of studio and office space in Hollywood.
Attendees were among the first to receive a copy of the Chamber’s new Hollywood Business & Community Profile. They also received a complimentary copy of the popular Hollywood Economic Development Update 2015. Hollywood Economic Development Update
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce works closely with the community, new developers and financial investors on projects which are important to Hollywood’s revitalization.
