Why Hollywood Matters
The 2015 Hollywood Economic Development Summit is a project of the Hollywood Chamber Economic Development Committee. This is the 21st annual Hollywood Economic Development Summit. A lot has changed in that span of time. When the Committee first started, companies were leaving Hollywood in droves. Today, Hollywood has more than 1-million square feet of office space under construction – more than anyplace else in the county. And there are 1,300 housing units under construction and more than 5,000 in the pipeline. With all of this development, the Committee selected the theme “Why Hollywood Matters: Assessing the State of Hollywood’s Re-Emergence.” What happens in Hollywood is important to create a new paradigm for living and working in Southern California. The 2015 Economic Development Summit discussed where Hollywood is at, how we address fears of over-development and what we need to do to continue the momentum.
The mission of the Hollywood Chamber Economic Development Committee is to “advocate for economic vitality that creates jobs, promotes a sustainable economy and enhances the quality of life in Hollywood.” The Committee serves as a forum to generate ideas that can further the Chamber’s economic development mission and guide Hollywood’s growth as the most dynamic, diverse, and vibrant community in the L.A. area. The Committee brings together regional thought leaders, public policy experts, private sector leaders, and government officials to advance ideas and advocate for policies that will further the growth, development and sustainability of Hollywood’s diverse communities. We invite you to join us on the third Tuesday each monthly as we continue to discuss important issues.
