Why I'm a Member...

Carmine Goglia Founder, Gift of Fame Enterprises

“I have been a Hollywood Chamber member since 1986. Through the years I have had the pleasure of making the Hollywood Walk of Fame star replica plaques given to honorees when they receive their star on the Walk of Fame. I also have created and licensed other products related to the star and Hollywood Sign over the years. You can check out my website at www.giftoffame.com. The Chamber has always been a friend to me as well as a great business venture. They support me and are constantly there to promote my Hollywood products. The lines of communication are always open and available between the Chamber and my company, Gift of Fame Enterprises. I am proud to say that I am a long-standing member of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce!"

Hollywood’s # 1 Facelift with Commemorative Pins!

Hollywood’s # 1 Celebrity is Turning 50 and it’s Time for her Facelift!

Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Campaign for Walk of Fame Makeover Offers Friends of the Walk of Fame Commemorative Pins

HOLLYWOOD, CA, November 30, 2009- Hollywood’s number one tourist attraction will be celebrating her 50th birthday in 2010. She is also in need of a facelift and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is working on plans to keep her in tip-top shape with a year-long campaign, celebrations and fundraising activities incorporating the 50th anniversary theme.

The Chamber has created a Friends of the Walk of Fame pin with proceeds going to the refurbishment program. The pin is a one-of-a-kind especially designed for this campaign and comes with a signed certificate of authenticity. For a mere $25 donation, fans from around the world can participate and be a part of this great project. A photo of the pin can be seen here and at Hollywoodchamber.net

To be honored with a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame, the world’s most famous sidewalk, is a tribute as coveted and sought after as any of the entertainment industry’s equally prestigious awards — including the Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, Golden Mike or Tony. And, because it recognizes a life-long contribution of both public and peer appreciation, it is an honor uniquely in a class of itself, a permanent monument of the past, as well as the present.

Envisioned in 1958 as a lasting tribute to the personalities who helped make Hollywood the most famous community in the world, the Walk continues today as a superior asset to the city, perpetuating the aura that has made the name “Hollywood” synonymous with glamour, and remains one of the city’s most widely – seen tourist attractions. It is also the only award that celebrities can share with their fans as they can stand near it, pose with it and actually touch the stars.

Administered by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce the Walk of Fame was designated, in 1978, as a Cultural/Historic Landmark by the City of Los Angeles. Through the efforts of the Hollywood Historic Trust, a continuing, self financing program maintains the quality of the Walk of Fame and the historic lure that is Hollywood.

The Walk of Fame lines both sides of Hollywood Boulevard from Gower to La Brea, and both sides of Vine Street, from Yucca to Sunset. Official groundbreaking ceremonies were conducted February 9, 1960 and in sixteen months, when construction was completed, 1,558 luminaries were forever immortalized in the sidewalk. Since then, approximately one to two stars per month have been added and stars dedicated in 1994 pushed the total over the 2,000 mark. However, even at this rate, it will be many years before the stars in the famed walk will be completely occupied, assuring the continued presence of Hollywood in the world’s media, and remaining a highly visible and lasting tribute to a unique city.

It is the Hollywood Chamber’s goal to keep our greatest landmark in pristine shape and we are asking for help from the entertainment community and fans from around the world. For more information, and to participate in repairing the Walk of Fame by ordering your special pin log onto HollywoodChamber.net.
