Political and Legislative Action
The Legislative Action Committee
Monitors
legislative developments at the local, state and
federal levels, and works to identify, support or
oppose legislation that may impact local businesses.
The Chamber fights to protect the interests of
Hollywood and your business.
Annual Legislative Advocacy Trips
Annual trips are
organized to meet with legislators and advocate for
Hollywood and the business community. Delegations of
Chamber staff and volunteers lobby in Sacramento and
Washington, D.C., to encourage support of issues and
legislation vital to the health and well-being of
the community.
Endorsing Candidates
The Chamber board has adopted
a policy allowing it to endorse business-friendly
candidates who work toward creating jobs, a strong
economy, and support of the many diverse industries
represented in Hollywood.
Influencing Business Legislation
The Chamber takes
positions on legislation and state and local ballot
measures that impact member businesses and actively
promotes its political positions. Issues include
business tax reform, workers comp insurance reform,
securing funds for transportation projects, and
labor law reform.
A Voice at City Hall
The Chamber staff testifies on
behalf of members to facilitate permits and zoning
assistance. As a member, and as part of a dedicated
group of concerned business people, you have a
stronger voice with public officials.
Entertainment Industry Business Council
In
partnership with five other area chambers, the
Hollywood Chamber supports the entertainment
industry, guilds and associations on legislation and
policy, and holds quarterly luncheons on current
topics.
Health Care Committee
Addresses important health
care issues facing Hollywood, both legislatively and
within the community. As one of the leading
industries in the Hollywood community, the health
care industry represents more than 10,000 jobs in
Hollywood.
Community Safety
The Chamber works closely with the
Los Angeles Police Department to promote public
safety and funding for the LAPD’s Hollywood
Division. Police & Fire Appreciation Day, one of the
largest in Los Angeles, is an annual barbeque held
to express the Chamber’s thanks to those in public
service protecting our community. |
